SCP P3 Industrial restores damaged concrete culvert

Our cutting-edge SCP P3 Industrial was specified to restore a concrete culvert that was damaged by fire at a leading coal mine.

The primary concern was that the integrity and durability of the concrete structure had been compromised. Mechanical and chemical changes in the concrete makeup could lead to spalling, thermal expansion and dehydration.

A 560m² surface area was treated with our colloidal silica post-placement pozzolan (P3) technology. It penetrated the available concrete capillary void space and purged residue and contaminants. By filling the capillary pore space with more calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) as it reacts with available free alkali, our technology raised the durability of the concrete to acceptable levels and, in doing so, prolonging the lifecycle of the structure.
